A MAJOR ACADEMIC MILESTONE was achieved at Liberty University when the College of Arts and Sciences, in cooperation with Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary, extended their graduate programs to include the Ph.D. in Counseling with specializations in Professional Counseling and Pastoral Care and Counseling. This program was established to be of particular interest to graduates of Master's level counseling programs, those with a Seminary degree, and those looking to get licensed through their state licensure board. We have also developed a flexible internship program that allows students to pursue work in their particular area of interest, while continuing to work in their current situation.
All courses are offered in one-week residential intensive formats with a convenient on-campus schedule that requires students to be on campus only a few times a year. This Ph.D. program carries on the tradition of recognizing the local church as a central element in pastoral care and counseling ministry, while at the same time preparing clinicians who are competent to practice in professional settings.
