Fielding Graduate University's PhD Program in Clinical Psychology is the only distributed learning doctoral program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA).
Fielding Graduate University has provided distributed learning for over 25 years. Socialization into the field of clinical psychology is provided by intensive faculty-student face-to-face contact at local cluster meetings, national sessions, clinical and research sessions. Structured learning activities that take place over the Fielding's Education Link & Information Exchange network (FELIX) deepen interactions between faculty and students.
The PhD program provides students with a breadth of theoretical perspectives, clinical training experiences and research methodologies; students are encouraged to take a broad view of clinical psychology - to integrate human behavior theory, practice and research at the individual, group and societal level. As future psychologists, students prepare to work with individuals, groups and systems - to apply theoretically grounded and research-based interventions that promote growth and change toward healthy and productive living. The program is designed to support individual strengths and initiative.
Concentrations
Based upon the scholar-practitioner model, the PhD program is committed to the development of scholarship skills associated with research and clinical practice. Research skills are demonstrated by supervised participation in research activities and by making an original contribution to knowledge through the dissertation process. We expect that our graduates' clinical practices will be informed by research and they will have the potential to make continuing scholarly contributions to the science and practice of psychology.
